The Shizen Design Collection

We make all of our notebooks by hand, so it makes sense that we were immediately drawn to the amazing papers coming from Shizen Design.

Shizen Design paper is handmade and handprinted in India using 100% recycled cotton rags from the garment industry. Not only does this paper look amazing, but has a really great feel in your hands. Here's a really cool video of some of this paper being made. The process is mesmerizing...

After doing some experimenting with it and testing the durability we knew we absolutely had to do a series of notebooks with covers featuring this paper. We reached out to Shizen Design and they couldn't be any cooler. After explaining how we wanted to use their paper, we were lucky enough to get the go-ahead, and they even offered to cut the sheets down to sizes that our equipment can handle.

We've decided to pair the Shizen Design paper with Finch Opaque 70# text weight paper for the notebook pages. Not only is this some of our favorite writing paper, but it's made less than an hour away from us.
